The movie depicts the story of the Sikh women during the tyrannical times of Mir Mannu who carried out large scale massacre of Sikhs. Sundri was a great Gursikh woman who remained steadfast and composed in face of ordeals and hardships but still smiling in the name of the Guru. The movie "Sundri" came as a great inspiration and motivator for young Sikh girls facing identity crisis in their schools and occupation. Many believe Sundri having swayed a sea of young sikh women to wearing dastar which was hitherto confined to 1-2 Sikh jathebandis.
